Prologue

Prologue

His body racked with pain as he hit the ground, after being thrown from the vehicle he was just on. He would love to stay on the ground and let the pain wash over him, but he can’t. He had to fight it because he knew that the thing piloting the type seven hover craft that he was just on moments ago will be back to finish him off. He lifted himself to his feet in time to watch the hover craft turn around and head back toward him.

He doesn’t like hover crafts very much. To him they do more harm than good. Anything caught under its powerful jets were crushed. He also doesn’t like the fact that it is hard to determine their speed, especially with an angry creature behind the wheel who would like him dead. The creature was a Racknovore gnashing its razor sharp teeth and its red skin seems to match its temper, while its seven horns glistened in the hot desert sun as it sped toward him.

There were few things that he hated in all the galaxies he traveled to. One of those things was slave traders, like the one racing towards him. He doesn’t understand how one race can think that they had a right to put another in chains. How someone can force another to suffer while they live a comfortable life. But to him, slave traders were the worse; they do all those things for profit. That’s why he was in this situation.

He came to this planet on a whim; he had heard there were nitrogen gas pools in the desert. While he was wandering around this planet, like he always does on so many others, he found the slaving operation He found their base of operations in the middle of the desert. There, he saw the pain, the suffering, and the death. He couldn’t stand it, so he ended it. It was not the first time he stopped a slave trade and he had a feeling it was not going to be the last. That’s why this thing driving the hover craft was furious at him. He released its “product”. He stopped its money flow. He destroyed its weapons. He sent its “helpers” to a planet that would not be charted for another two thousand years, a planet that had no one for them to harm or enslave. But the Racknovore still left on this planet wanted him dead.

The hover craft was getting closer. He had to do something. Should he try to run away? No, he does too much running already. Should he let the hover craft run over him? No, he would not give up; if he were going to do that, he would have done that a long time ago. Many thoughts raced through his mind but one thing he knew for sure was that he had to stop this monster from hurting anyone ever again.
